Why use vacuum to fill a cooling system?
Pouring coolant leaves air pockets in the block, the heater matrix and the radiator. Those pockets become hot spots and airlocks, the customer drives off, the temperature gauge climbs and the workshop gets the phone call.
A vacuum refill kit pulls the system down to vacuum first, so the coolant is drawn into every cavity instead of pushing against trapped air. It also shows a leak the moment it happens, because a system that will not hold vacuum will not hold coolant either.
